Message to the British Government from Anonymous

Hello, Government of Britain. We are Anonymous.
For years we have basked in the support and protection of our leading parties. We trusted you to make decisions for the nation that the general public could not, and to be our representatives in times of disagreement and need. However, times are changing, and we, Anonymous, are not pleased. We fully understand that sometimes there must be sacrifices for a greater good, in this case the safety and comfort of the nation. However this time it is going too far.
You plan to implement a Family Protection Plan which involves the total monitoring of designated families by means of closed circuit television. These cameras will monitor children, ensuring that they go to school, eat proper meals, and go to bed on time. The similarity to a certain famous Dystopian novel is surprising. This has already been implemented in 2,300 homes nationwide.
Anonymous is dedicated to the idea that information, privacy and freedom are rights, and we are rising worldwide against those who would suppress these ideals. In Iran we help bring information to protesters and recover their stories of hardship, providing what help we can to restore freedom and relay these stories to the world. In Australia and Germany, we are fighting the scheme to censor the internet. In America, we are expressing our views and criticisms about President Obama, a campaign which has even made it to newspapers here in Britain. Worldwide, we fight the Cult of Scientology, an organization which gains power through lies and illegal destruction of free information.
Now it is Britains turn. After learning about this plan we could not help but wonder what is next? What happens when 22,000 breaches of human rights in the next two years isnt enough? You have already said that this plan has been too little, too late, havent you? To us this implies that there is more to come. This is why Anonymous has decided to take this into our own hands and make this plan our primary concern in this nation. Privacy is a right, not a privilege, and we will not allow that to be taken away at a whim.
Furthermore, Anonymous regards this plan as a clever sleight of hand. By taking advantage of a well-known problem in Britain you are able to force surveillance and control onto your citizens. Anonymous will show you that there is a difference between control and power. control is taken whereas power is gained. Our power will come from the information we provide the public, and we will foil this litmus test and show you that we will stand and fight for our rights when we need to.
Anonymous makes two demands. The first is the total abandonment of this plan to implement closed circuit television into private homes without permission, as well as all plans for similar actions in the future. This includes the removal of the cameras in the 2,300 homes that were subject to your trial this past year.
The second is the resignation, or removal, of Secretary of State for Children Schools and Family, Ed Balls, the man who fabricated and implemented this plan, from this position in the British government. How can we sustain a Secretary of State for Children Schools and Family who omits evolution from school syllabuses? Do you, Ed Balls, really believe that this Family Protection scheme is valid? It is as if a doctor attempting to cure an illness only by covering the external symptoms. The end result will be the same, it will only get worse. This plan will hide the symptoms of Britains youth crime problem, but the underlying cause will still exist and fester in the population. Even if this plan is implemented successfully, you will only find that this nation will grow to hate those which it has appointed, and we will be here to show you what you have done; You are either unable to see this or choose not to for the sake of gaining control over the population. Either way, you are unfit for your position, any you must be replaced by someone willing and able to help the population. This also goes for any politician who would ever support such schemes.
Anonymous does not fight with violence. We fight with information and organisation. If our demands are not met, we will do everything in our power to stop you. We will provide information to the public by means not discussed in this video, and show people that they need not fear their government, but make the government fear them. When people realize that their rights are being taken away by their own government, the aforementioned trust between public and government will dissolve. This will make your job impossible as you cannot represent a public that does not recognise you. The government should act for the people, not for itself. Make your move.
